Med-Hack Salon  Wednesday September 19, 2018

Leading up to our hackathon in September, the Med.Hack(+) team is holding a series of salons. We want to spark lively discussions about the intersection of healthcare, business, and technology by presenting speakers who are helping to drive innovation in these areas.  A salon is a fully interactive event. That means everybody is free to give a talk about whatever topic they are interested in, as long as it is healthcare related. Each talk will be followed by a round of questions and discussions. So if you are keen about any topic in health or medicine, or if you want to share your experience with healthcare you are very welcome to join.

The Med-Hack organizers want your input into a theoretical discussion and brainstorming session  around issues and ideas dealing with what a "Ward of the 21st Century" would look like in Saskatoon.  With the new Children's Hospital coming on line, the city will have a significant amount of space becoming available within the acute care space at RUH.  Med-Hack would like to get your thoughts, ideas and concerns regarding the potential of this space located in the center of health research, academia and services within Saskatchewan as a proving ground to take ideas, innovation and research developed here to the world.

Hackathons bring people together to intensively work on projects. Teams can focus on both software and hardware development. They occur over a few days, and usually have a theme, with the goal being to create a prototype. Hackathons challenge people to imagine what might be possible, and gives them a chance to make it a reality. We give our participants just 48 hours to develop their ideas, with hopes that some will develop into viable businesses. Starting Friday night (September 28,2018) when the problems and ideas are pitched and teams are formed, and ending Sunday afternoon, each team will build a prototype and present their work to the judges and the audience at the end.

No registration or cost for the September 19th Salon. Everyone is welcome!
